I once drove by David Lynch on the corner of La Brea and Hollywood Blvd. He was standing in front of a church with a cow. I wanted to go back and talk to him but I wussed out. Instead, I told my friend who lived down the street that he was there, and she went over and had a half hour conversation with him and helped him learn to use his cell phone. Living in LA is so surreal sometimes.
My other Lynch-related story… my sister and I were Mulholland Drive freaks. We had watched it dozens of times. For a short time, I had lived on Wilshire and Alvarado, right on skid row. I had parking in my building but when you opened the garage door with the remote late at night, sometimes bums and or/drug addicts would try to rush in so that they could sleep or do drugs in the garage. One night, we got back to my building really late. We pulled up and I SWEAR that the weirdo monster in the back of the Denny’s in Mulholland Drive, you know which one I’m talking about… the freaking scary one, that thing was in front of my building. My sister and I were so freaked out. And no, we were not high or drunk.
A week later, I woke up to the faint sound of a woman singing outside of my windows. It took a second to register, but the song was the spanish version of the Roy Orbison song “Crying” (Llorando). When it clicked to me what it was, I ran to the window, and saw that Rebecca del Rio, the creepy woman who sings the song in the theater scene in the movie, was singing it across the street from my building. Weird!!!

P.S. Another weird thing. After I finished writing the paragraph above, I went back to my dashboard and there was a photo of a girl in the building I lived in on Wilshire. WTF!

Ah… Night Shift Nurses. My fave. I am going to cosplay as a nurse at a Comic-con someday.
